PTT Questions

What is a PTT track day?

An well-organized motorcycle riding event held at some of the most prestigious road racing tracks throughout the West Coast. It is the safest, most exciting place to ride your motorcycle, meet new friends and hone your skills to become a better rider.

Do  I need a street or racing license?

No. There are a number of riders who only ride on track and don't have a DMV motorcycle license.

Do I need a lot of riding experience?

Not necessarily.  You will want to have basic riding skills and safely be able to control your motorcycle. As an example, if you have obtained a DMV motorcycle license or have motorcycle off road riding experience you are likely ready for a track day.

Do I need a sport bike?

No. While sport bikes make up the majority, we have a wide variety of bikes on any given day. These include standard street, sport touring, touring, cruisers, vintage and supermoto bikes.

What do I need to do to prepare my motorcycle?

Not much. Simply tape or disconnect your tail light and tape or remove your mirrors. Other than a clean and safe bike that's about it.

What safety gear do I need to ride on track?

A Dot or Snell rated helmet, one or two piece full zip together leather or Aerostitch/Equivalent textile style riding suit, leather riding gloves that fully covers the wrists and riding boots that fully cover the ankles. A back protector is highly recommended.

How do I sign up?

Simply sign up through our secure website by going to the Sign Up page. You will immediately receive an email confirmation and be automatically put on the roster for the events you chose.

What group do I sign up for?

We recommend the C Group. It typically takes a few track days to be ready to move up to the B Group. Once your speed increases and you're ready, simply talk to registration about the group change.

Can I bring family and friends?

Absolutely. There is no charge for them and no need to sign them up.

What should I bring?

Refer to our printable Checklist for recommended items. Not all items
are necessary, they are just helpful. Should you forget something, not to worry, we're here to help out.

Can I camp the night before the event?

Yes. PTT rents the paddock the night before an event at no charge to the riders. Tents, trailers and motorhomes are welcome.

What do I do when I arrive?

Enter the front gate, find a comfortable spot in the paddock and set up your pit area. The morning of the event, go sign in at the PTT registration canopy, it's easy to find. You will need to sign the PTT liability release waiver when checking in. Registration opens at 7am.

What is tech inspection?

PTT will conduct a basic technical inspection of your motorcycle after signing in at registration. Our tech inspectors will be looking for any mechanical problems and assist you in making sure your bike is safe.
It's located right next to the registration canopy and opens at 7am.

What is a riders meeting?

The mandatory riders meeting will detail the pertinent information, rules and flags for the day before entering the track. It starts at 8:20am and lasts about 20 minutes.
