PTT provides rider training and instruction and has been approved by the American Federation of Motorcycles (AFM) to host their New Racer School.

Pacific Track Time always runs its events in a three (3) group format (Group A, B & C) running 20 minute sessions. Groups are divided up by skill level and lap times. We want everyone to know that you are never stuck in the group you sign up in. At any time during your track day event, if you find yourself going faster or slower than those around you, feel free to come by registration to be moved up or down into the appropriate group that best suits you.

Group A - Bring It On!

Intended For – Advanced Track Riders

Passing Rules – Inside or outside; safe passing with a minimum of a 6-foot cushion

Time On Track – Group A goes out at 9am and continues to go out on the hour throughout the day

Suggested Lap Time

  • Thunderhill 2:12 and under
  • Sonoma Raceway 2:00 and under
  • Buttonwillow 2:10 and under
  • Laguna Seca 1:50 and under

Group B - Intermediate

Intended For – Experienced Track Riders

Passing Rules – Inside or outside; safe passing with a minimum of a 6-foot cushion

Time On Track – Group B goes out at 9:20am and continues to go out at 20 past the hour throughout the day

Suggested Lap Time

  • Thunderhill 2:13-2:24
  • Sonoma Raceway 2:01-2:14
  • Buttonwillow 2:11-2:22
  • Laguna Seca 1:51-2:00

Group C - Novice

Intended For – New Track Riders or Riders looking for a non-competitive atmosphere

Passing Rules – Inside or outside; courteous, safe passing with a minimum of a 6-foot cushion

Time on Track – Group C goes out at 9:40am and continues to go out at 40 past the hour throughout the day

Suggested Lap Time

  • Thunderhill 2:25 and up
  • Sonoma Raceway 2:15 and up
  • Buttonwillow 2:23 and up
  • Laguna Seca 2:01 and up

Orientation

Pacific Track Time holds complementary orientation classes at every track day event. These classes are intended for first time track riders who want to educate themselves with pertinent information before safely being introduced to the track. Multiple classes are provided throughout the day as your riding skills improve.

Instruction

Complimentary personal instruction is available throughout the day by our qualified staff of Pacific Track Time instructors. If you’re looking for instruction, speak with registration and they’ll set you up with the appropriate instructor for your skill level.

New Racers School (NRS)

Pacific Track Time has been approved by the American Federation of Motorcycles (AFM) to host their New Racer School. This course is for riders looking to achieve their competition race license certification.

Riders looking to get their competition license for racing will sign up for the track day and select the New Racer School option for an additional fee. The course will consist of classroom training, followed by a written test and on-track evaluation. Additionally, you’ll practice race starts at the end of the day provided you’ve passed the mandatory criteria without incident. You will receive a certificate of completion from Pacific Track Time and will be approved to acquire your novice AFM racing license.

The Fast Way™ School

At Pacific Track Time’s The Fast Way™ school you will receive hours of classroom training and on-track instruction equivalent to the same amount of track time as a standard track day.
